Forgive offences
Do you know of anything more pathetic than two people who have stopped speaking to each other because they won’t forgive each other for something?
If you want to attract more viewers for your TV programme, all you have to do is find two people who hate each other, who insult each other and swear that they will never be able to forgive each other. However, if you are not interested in making more money or being on a prime time show, what you have to do is forgive.
One of the most likeable characters in the Gospel is the good thief. Strictly speaking, there are no ‘good’ thieves, and Christians do not revere San Dimas for being a thief, but because there, on the Cross, he was able to face the music, ask for forgiveness and steal Jesus’ heart. We must know how to forgive and also how to ask for forgiveness.
